§1 Driving Directions & Maps
◊ For those familiar with San Antonio and the Sunken Garden;
There may not being any information of interest to you on this page other than Event Admission Fees & Rules or the Event Site Plan.
◊ For those familiar with San Antonio, but not the Sunken Garden;
It is in Brackenridge Park at 3801 N. St Marys Street*. It is where events such as the Taste of New Orleans and the Margarita Pour-off are held. The Sunken Garden is adjacent to the Japanese Tea Garden and also near the Zoo parking lot on the opposite side of the street. It is across the highway (U.S. 281 / McAllister Fwy.) from Alamo Stadium.

§2 Free &/Or Reasonable Parking Near By
◊ All three of the parking lots mentioned below, are marked on the Google Satellite Map photo to the right. 1)When entering the Sunken Garden facility from the street, there is free parking to the left. 2)There is also the Zoo parking lot, which is a little further north on N. St Marys Street. 3)There is parking by Alamo Stadium on the other side of Hwy. 281 with a pedestrian cross walk across Hwy. 281 but the walking time is unknown. Come early and get the best parking!
◊ Threre are other parking areas in the park or park area that are not identified on the map posted hereon.
◊ There is a SAWS parking garage near the Sunken Gardens parking lot, but they are not usually open on weekends.
◊ There is no reserved parking for general admission. For reserved parking visit the Supporter Benefits page or click on the link below.
◊ When parking please leave food & beverages in your vehicle, as these items are not allowed to be brought into Sunken Gardens. Also bags, satchels, containers, etc. are subject to search, so you may want to leave them securely locked in your vehicle. §5 Weather Information & Site Conditions
San Antonio's Average Typical Weather In October Is;
Temperature: High 82°, Low 59°, Average Over The Day 71°.
All of the above are about 9° cooler than Sept. ◊ With only 4 days >90°.
Clear 12 days, Partly Cloudy 10 days, Cloudy 9 days. ◊ Sun 64%.
Rain: 3.2" over 6 days (About same as September) ◊ Sunset ~7:15PM
FYI: The Average High listed above is near 20° cooler than other
San Antonio events like PrideFest in June & GayPride in July.
◊ GayFiesta™ Event Site: Sunken Gardens has a reasonable amount of shaded areas as can be seen in the picture on the right around the perimeter. The shaded areas increase rapidly as the day goes on, especially since Sunken Gardens is at a lower level as it was originally carved into an old Limestone Quarry in the 1930's. In addition GayFiesta™ will have some covered areas set-up.
◊ Check up-to-date weather info via links below and dress accordingly and bring sunscreen, sun-shades, caps, hats, etc. as may be appropriate to be comfortable. If you plan to be out in the open areas in front of the two stages a lot (see pics below), it would probably be a good idea to bring the sun-protection type items regardless.
